Cherry Pie Squares

Makes about 12

1 c. (2 sticks) butter, room temp
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
3 c. sifted all purpose flour
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9x13 in. glass baking dish. Cream butter with sugar in large bowl. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Stir in vanilla and almond extract. Blend in flour. Pour half of batter into prepared dish. Top with cherry pie filling. Pour remaining batter over. Bake until golden and firm to the touch, about 35 minutes. Cool slightly in pan. Cut into squares. Serve warm or at room temp. Yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top.
